The route was long, about 9-10 miles each way. We started off at the Moser trailhead and dropped into the Bozeman Creek drainage coming from the Hyalite side. Scott and Ghetto-C are ready to go (me not so much):
Slowly we make the uphill slog of about a mile, maybe 1 1/2. Ghetto-C taking a break, and me and Scott at the top of the Moser jumpoff road ready to begin some down hill:
The three amigos gringos norte, taking a break on the nicely groomed downhill section, and Scott getting ready do some powder traversing through a gladed section:
After a long ski, especially after reaching the Sourdough trail junction where a long slow semi-uphill begins, we reached the cabin. As we were approaching the cabin there is a nice little downhill section which was nice and powdery. I was able to catch Chris at the optimum pre-faceplant moment:
Not even some wind, blowing snow, and sub-freezing temperatures can dim Chris' enthusiasm for fishing. He went out and augured a couple holes in the lake, and we set about to manning the tiny little rods. Eventually there was a bite and I pulled in a cutthroat trout of about 13":
After a fine evening of food, fire, and fine absinthe (courtesy of the excellent beer-toting Scott), it was time for some turns. Scott gave me some good ski lessons on initiating a tele-turn and traversing/switchbacking. It was good ski learning and awesome practice.
Chris caught a giant cutthroat!
It was a lot of hard work and a long ski, but it was damn good times with a couple of awesome dudes! It's going to be tough playing basketball tonight.
